Film
One of my favourite films of all times is “O brother, where are thou?”. Is a comedy and a free adaptation based on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. It was made in 2000 but I saw it ten years later with my father at my house. I stayed in my bed because I had temperature and my father invited me to saw the movie. I have a special memory with this movie.
It is a very interesting adaptation of The Odyssey. It tells the history of three convicts friends (portrait it by George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Nelson) that are escaping of prison in a quest to retrieve a “treasure” that one of them hide, but they must hurry because the entire area is going to be flooding to make an artificial lake. Just after they escape the guys get lift by a blind man and, like The Oracle or Tiresias, who told them series of prophecies and more important, that they will find a fortune, but not the one they expect. That’s the moment when the adventure begins. I love how all this moments get represent in the movie because all happens in the epic poem but the satiric way of how are set out is awesome. Well, also I like it because is a comedy and I love that genre. In this film the comedy is lay out in an intelligent way, so is not an easy film make in base of simple jokes, we must pay attention to understand the dialogues and to connect the history of the film with the epic poem.
